A technical note to our viewers

A technical note to our viewers!

Although web pages are exciting and beneficial, they can be equally frustrating to viewers and designers alike.  Since many different browsers exist, along with many versions of each browser, it makes for increasingly more difficult and costly design and maintenance of a dynamic and enjoyable web site.

Designers and content providers of your Benchmark web page carefully considered many aspects to designing and maintaining a useful, dynamic and fun web page. We specifically designed the Benchmark web page to serve the needs of all Benchmark staff, teachers, parents, families, and most importantly, the students.  We were not able to design this page to be 100% compatible with every browser on the Internet.  To do this would have mandated the use of more basic development languages and features, which in-turn, would not have allowed for the many special effects and entertaining additions currently in use on your web site.  The structure of this web page was designed to allow Benchmark staff and teachers the ability to maintain their own sections of the page with minimal training and without the need for special software.

To accomplish this task, we elected to fully support the current version of Internet Explorer. Some versions of Netscape work as well, but they are not officially supported. We incorporated the use of Macromedia Flash and JavaScript to bring to life the many features.  Flash and JavaScript used on the Benchmark web pages are safe! They do not contain a virus or any other destructive capabilities. They are used to enhance the function and enjoyment of your page.  Upgrading to the latest version of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer on Macintosh or Windows based computers is safe and free to everyone.

To get the most from your Benchmark web page, Click on the icons below beginning with Internet Explorer and follow the download instructions as required.  If a window appears similar to those shown below, it means only that the upgrade will put some files on your computer and that the files come from either Microsoft or Macromedia. They are virus free and have been tested to work with your version of Windows.  Simply click Yes and continue. These upgrades will not only help with viewing web pages but will fix many known software bugs.

We hope you enjoy visiting the web site. It is our intention to provide you with a fun viewing experience.

Thank You,

Benchmark web design team
